Alton Eugene....

May 14, 2010 - 7lbs 20 inches @ 2:52am

So little Alton came into our lives May 14, 2010 after 30 hours of labor. He made his way into the world healthy and strong, Praise God!

I always knew that having a child would change my life, I just didn't realize how much. It's been a little over a month and it's incredible to see how much of a joy he is and the joy he brings to our lives. Yes, there are sleepless nights (lots of them), 3-4 hour feedings around the clock, tons of dirty diapers - but the smiles, baby coos and his sweet spirit are so worth it.

I think I've done more laundry in 5 weeks than I had in the last 5 months! He loves to changes outfits tons of times during the day. Some sweet memories of his first month:

He is so cute in his PJ's (Alvin calls it his super-suit), his little hats and tiny shoes
He loves to rock in his chair (thank you Nana Gwen!)
He can't wait to eat and follows the bottle with his eyes
Once he's tired of his pacifier he rips it out of his mouth
He has a great little old man face
He loves to be awake from 2am - 6am, he doesn't fuss just likes to be up!
He loves bath time
He loves grandma's singing
He loves story time with dad

Dear Alton,
Wow! Little guy you have added so much joy to my life. Your sweet spirit has brought me to tears several times. I still can't believe God has blessed us with you. How could we ever deserve such a special little boy like you? We're still getting to know each other. I'm learning your cries and coos. So thank you for being patient with your mama, this is all so new to us. I pray every day that you continue to grow healthy and strong. More than anything, that you become a man that loves the Lord. You have captured my heart Alton. Love, tu Mami.

  1. My Son,
Wow, that feels amazing to say to you! One day, you'll remember...

You'll think about how tough life is and you'll remember, Mom and Dad loved the Lord and always trusted in Him to guide them.

You'll graduate from high school and
you'll remember, Mom and Dad loved me through all of the car accidents, report cards, and phone calls home from school.

You'll meet the woman of your dreams and
you'll remember, Mom and Dad told me that the woman that I choose to serve for the rest of my life should have already decided to serve the Lord for the rest of hers.

You'll start your career with ambition and
you'll remember, Mom and Dad always believed in me and encouraged me to do anything that I wanted, to take risks and never give up.

And then one day, when God blesses you with a son you'll remember, Mom and Dad loved me and made me feel safe and secure at home so that I would know how to do the same for my son.

Hopefully, when you remember, just like we love to see you do now, you'll smile.
