Rested...

Never in my right mind would I have thought that I would feel rested at 5:45 am - LOL. That was all before Alton came around. Bedtime is around 9-10pm depending on whether it's my night to get up with him or not. So since it wasn't my night, I slept a full seven hours - that is wonderful!

Today I woke up and felt rested, I totally could have kept sleeping but didn't. I'm glad I woke up because an hour later I've done my SOAP and spent time praying. Not only that, the house is quiet and peaceful. I need a little of that everyday. Looking around our family room brings a smile to my face. All around me screams - baby! Bottles, his tiny outfits, socks, his swing and rocking chair. I still don't understand how God could have blessed us with Alton. As hard as it is some days, all those times put together don't add up to how much of a blessing or how fun it is to have him.

I know Alvin and I always look at him and can't believe he is our son. In eight weeks he's changed so much and we can't imagine our lives without him. I just melt every time I see his little face.

Alton Eugene....

May 14, 2010 - 7lbs 20 inches @ 2:52am

So little Alton came into our lives May 14, 2010 after 30 hours of labor. He made his way into the world healthy and strong, Praise God!

I always knew that having a child would change my life, I just didn't realize how much. It's been a little over a month and it's incredible to see how much of a joy he is and the joy he brings to our lives. Yes, there are sleepless nights (lots of them), 3-4 hour feedings around the clock, tons of dirty diapers - but the smiles, baby coos and his sweet spirit are so worth it.

I think I've done more laundry in 5 weeks than I had in the last 5 months! He loves to changes outfits tons of times during the day. Some sweet memories of his first month:

He is so cute in his PJ's (Alvin calls it his super-suit), his little hats and tiny shoes
He loves to rock in his chair (thank you Nana Gwen!)
He can't wait to eat and follows the bottle with his eyes
Once he's tired of his pacifier he rips it out of his mouth
He has a great little old man face
He loves to be awake from 2am - 6am, he doesn't fuss just likes to be up!
He loves bath time
He loves grandma's singing
He loves story time with dad

Dear Alton,
Wow! Little guy you have added so much joy to my life. Your sweet spirit has brought me to tears several times. I still can't believe God has blessed us with you. How could we ever deserve such a special little boy like you? We're still getting to know each other. I'm learning your cries and coos. So thank you for being patient with your mama, this is all so new to us. I pray every day that you continue to grow healthy and strong. More than anything, that you become a man that loves the Lord. You have captured my heart Alton. Love, tu Mami.
